Sure, it's getting around the system, but I don't think it's really that bad. I don't get all mad about syncers if I run against them, I just got bad luck. I've synced with a couple guildies from time to time because we were bored and felt like it.
However, the most memorable time I synced was with my guildie when we both ran touch rangers as a joke. We ended up getting a glad point (before the system was reworked).

Syncing is stupid. You play PvP to have a challenge, not run 3 SF eles and a monk in ascalon arena ><

Forget "play to win", competition, etc. It just flat-out isn't fun, win or lose, to play with people who don't know what they're doing.

I don't care. Everyone has set builds anyway. If they manage to sync and get better teamwork, then they deserve to win.

My boyfriend and I sync all the time in holiday arenas. No, we don't do it just to "win" with builds or whatever (considering holiday arenas builds are already set), we do it so we can play together. For others that sync for the fun of it I don't see a problem with it, especially considering theres no guarantee that you'll even make it in the same party, let alone have good teammates. Although I did have an ignorant person give us a good pointless bashing in costume arena today for syncing with my boyfriend.

Why even bother then, how is it fun to just wipe out the other teams with an unfair advantage? its not like the rewards are any good.

Then don't play in Random areans. You'd think the title would give it away..

If you'd read above, you'll note I say syncing makes no sense for RA because TA exists.
However, no such option exists for event arenas. I guarantee you, if there was a Team Snowball, I'd have been doing that instead of wasting my time trying to sync into random Snowball.

Somewhat agreed. What happened to intrinsic motivation to play the game and have fun? But then again, it's human nature to do this sort of thing, to ensure your chances of success. That can't be denied either.

Typical from a certain part of the GW population. They never have enough of what is given to them! It's a fun holiday event, with special "costumes" (we're in fact beta-testing the BMP ) and they have to make it a team event. But well, they'll probably tell us that there's no rule against it...
From the Webster:
Quote:
fun
Pronunciation: \ˈfən\
Function: noun
Etymology: English dialect fun to hoax, perhaps alteration of Middle English fonnen, from fonne dupe
Date: 1727
1: what provides amusement or enjoyment; specifically: playful often boisterous action or speech

Quoting the dictionary is meaningless. Everyone instinctively knows what fun is, regardless of what it says in any printed reference.
You're working on the assumption that fun necessarily means that you can't care about anything in order to actually have fun. This assumption is entirely without merit. Do you ever have fun in competition? Because I do, and I will tell you straight out it has very little to do with winning or losing.
Further, nowhere do I claim that there must be a team event arena. However, if such an arena doesn't exist, then people who want to play with specific people in the arena must necessarily 321join. Plain if-then logic.

If you think syncing necessarily PROVES that one isn't good enough to deal with randomness, I think you need to come to grips with logical fallacies.
Oh yeah, and maybe people don't always agree with you on what is exciting and what is not?
"I play to win" <~~ OH HELL YEAH *cheer*

I raised this subject before and Andrew Patrick said that he'd forward the problem to Anet at around the time the Dishonorable patch rolled out.
He said that they'd deal with it if it was a significant enough problem. It hasn't been dealth with so it's obviously not big enough for them to bother about.
It's ok to abuse anything in the game these days because people got away with abusing the primary quest bug with GW:EN HM patch, dupers are among us and people sync cheat.

If you think syncing is on the same level of offense as duping and bug exploitation, you either a) don't think duping or exploits are serious problems, or b) need a reality check before you drown in your own rhetoric.

There are no cheaters, there's just systems that don't work.

It's an exploit, plain and simple. Ignorance is only bliss to an extent. Then it just runs right into stupidity.

An exploit of what? A feature? If this was a bug exploit, why hasn't it been fixed - or, at the very least, why hasn't Anet issued warnings or statements about it? As another poster above indicated, Anet is aware of the problem and apparently doesn't consider it an issue worthy of attention. Kind of different from duping and rep point bug exploitation, isn't it?
